The Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy consists of four Boards: The Board of Registration; Continuing Competency Board, the Centers of Excellence and the Committee on Accreditation of Education Program for Kinesiotherapy.

The purpose of the Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy (COPSKT) is to establish and maintain the qualification standards for academic programs that train entry-level kinesiotherapists, to provide the examination and testing of professional skills and knowledges unique to the kinesiotherapist, and to provide opportunities for practicing clinicians to maintain registered status through seminars, conferences, and other coursework.

Additionally, COPSKT works with the American Kinesiotherapy Association to attain national accreditation and recognition of the profession, and to ensure the safety of the public.

Kinesiotherapy Center of Excellence Pathway

The Kinesiotherapy Center of Excellence (COE) Clinical Training Program is a certificate program that upholds the highest standards for clinical training and best reflects the Scope of Practice and Standards of Practice for the Kinesiotherapy profession.

The goal of the COE is to provide prospective candidates the instruction, experience, and skills needed to thrive in the healthcare system as a knowledgeable, qualified and capable therapist that stands out among allied health care professionals. The program is approximately six months in length and offers prospective candidates interested in the field of Kinesiotherapy a path for completing the required 1000 clinical training hours needed to be eligible to sit for the Registration Exam. Clinical training sites are located in various areas of the United States and will provide the opportunity to gain clinical experience and skill under the direct supervision of a registered Kinesiotherapist.
