Coordinator’s Annual Report

  1. Managed the activities of the Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy (COPSKT).
  • Prepared meeting agendas.
  • Chaired scheduled Council meetings through Zoom and conference calls.
  • Managed the interactions of the AKTA Executive Board, Executive Director, and COPSKT members on procedural issues related to maintaining the professional standards of the profession.
  • Prepared narrative summaries of various occurring issues to keep council members informed.
  • Kept COPSKT updated and informed on occurring issues that impacted COPSKT procedure.
  • Worked in concert with AKTA leadership to manage issues relative to the promotion of Kinesiotherapy.
  1. Served as Chair of the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for Kinesiotherapy (CoA-KT), managing program accreditation activities of the Committee.
  • Developed meeting agendas.
  • Chaired CoA-KT meetings through Zoom and conference calls.
  • Coordinated the efforts of COPSKT members to work in concert with members of the CAAHEP Standards Committee to revise and update the Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation for Educational Programs in Kinesiotherapy. This action is required at 5 year intervals, and entailed basic revisions and subsequent changes of the standards document that were specifically dictated by CAAHEP, and extensive revision of the curricular competencies for educational programs in kinesiotherapy.

This task was successfully completed in May 2026. The revised Standards are now posted on the CAAHEP website with an activation date of July 1, 2026.

  • Currently working with Norfolk State University in preparation for their Continuing Accreditation self-study and site visit, which will be based on the recently revised Standards and Guidelines.
  1. Virtually participated in the various Annual CAAHEP Commissioner’s Updates.
  1. Virtually participated in the CAAHEP Annual Business Meeting Virtual Business Meeting on April    

        24, 2026.

  • Represented and promoted the kinesiotherapy discipline during interactive discussions and

exchange of ideas with conference attendees representing the other CAAHEP accredited programs.

  1. Responded to various inquiries from email and telephone calls to clarify:
  • clinical practice issues related to compliance with the KT Scope of Practice.
  • education requirements for completing a kinesiotherapy course of study.
  • interactions with human resource officers of various VA Medical Centers on educational requirements for becoming an  RKT.
  1. Participated as the Kinesiotherapy sponsor representative on the Committee on Accreditation of Exercise Science Programs (COAES) monthly meetings.
  1. Provided advice and consultation to the faculty of the KT accredited programs regarding curricular and other procedural issues.
